WordPress Theme Installation

Please read all the information below carefully and, if you have any questions, you can contact me before you fill out the form.

Installation includes

  • Installation of Kadence and the child theme
  • Installation of all the required plugins
  • Importing the demo content
  • Theme set up exactly like the demo

Installation does not include

  • Replacing the demo content with your content
  • Customizations, like changing fonts, colors or layouts
  • Additions of new sections to pages or widget areas

Step One

Before you proceed

  • First and most important – create a backup of your site, especially if you have existing content.
  • If you have the Classic Editor and/or Classic Widgets plugins installed, they will have to be deactivated and deleted. Kadence is built for the Block Editor, so it is not compatible with the classic editor.
  • If you have an automatic RSS feed, disable it temporarily because importing the content will import the demo posts, too. After the installation is finished, I will delete the demo posts and you can enable it again.

Step Two

Create a user for me

I will need a username and password to log in to your WordPress site (not your hosting log-in information – most require confirmation by email or phone) and install the theme.

  1. Log in to your WordPress site > go to Users > Add New (from the left column)
  2. Use novemberdahlia for Username
  3. Use hello@novemberdahlia.com for Email
  4. Make sure “Send the new user an email about their account” is checked
  5. Select Administrator from the Role dropdown
  6. Click on “Add New User”

I strongly recommend deleting the user you’ve created for me from Users > All Users after the installation is finished.

If your site is on wordpress.com

Click here for instructions to send me an invite to novemberdahliadesign@gmail.com. Please keep in mind that you will need a plan that allows third-party themes and plugins to be uploaded.

Step Three

Fill out the form

Now you can fill out the installation form. Please double-check that all links, usernames and passwords work before submitting the form. Incorrect log-in information will delay the installation.

If you want the theme installed on a staging site, I will need the link to the staging site.

Plugins

Do you want the WooCommerce plugin?*
Do you want the WP Recipe Maker plugin?*
Do you want a portfolio?*
Not every theme demo has an example, but a basic portfolio can be added to any site.

Coming Soon Page

Do you want a “coming soon” page enabled?*
Recommended if your site is not brand new and you don't want people to see the demo content before you replace it with your own. If your theme doesn't have a custom "Coming Soon" page, a basic page with the words "coming soon" will be added instead.
